This delightful fishing village is situated on Île Harrington, one of the Côte-Nord region’s many islands.
Harrington Harbour is located on one of the Gulf of St. Lawrence’s many islands.
The village became famous after the movie “La Grande Séduction (Seducing Doctor Lewis)” was filmed there. The movie is about the local population struggling for the village’s survival.
In reality, the village’s future is very promising. It is flourishing, among other things, thanks to its port activities and fish processing plant.
Snow crab fishing
After restrictions were put on cod fishing, many fishermen of the St. Lawrence Estuary and Gulf began fishing this crustacean.
From on board their small boats, they lowered their traps onto the muddy or sandy seabed, sometimes at depths of hundreds of meters to catch this delicious shellfish.
Today, Canada is the world’s largest snow crab producer.
