A visit to the old Natashquan schoolhouse is filled with poetry and musings.
The old school
Yesterday, I saw my old school again/They kept it as a souvenir/I remember the laughter and tears of childhood/whose end we wish would never draw near(…) (Translation of lyrics)
Gilles Vigneault wrote a touching song about his old schoolhouse. This well-known poet, story-teller and singer-songwriter- performer grew up in Natashquan. In his writings, Vigneault often talks about where he grew up and some of his songs were inspired by old folk melodies that were sung to him when he was a child.
